A very abreviated timeline

December of 2016- Whitestown creates a PUD surrounding the cemetery and Mike Hancock begins research work to protect and preserve the nearly forgotten pioneer cemetery (complete story at whitestownhistory.com)

February 2019- Worth Township receives deed to the cemetery from the property owner after months of negotiations and work.

October 2019- Town of Whitestown PR department runs a story about the effort to preserve McCord cemetery which sparks community interest and kicks off the idea to do a full restoration.

2020-2021 Covid delays progress on cemetery plans.

August 2021- Worth Township requests and receives a restoration quote from Stonehugger Cemetery Restoration, and the advisory board votes to move forward with the restoration which will not be able to start until the following year due to scheduling issues.

August 2022- Restoration begins and is completed a few days later.

May 29, 2023 - The Township holds a public open-house event on Memorial Day to show off the cemetery
