- The land will be officially transferred to the library this month.
- Construction is slated to begin this spring.
- Executive Director Sarah Moore stressed that the wooded area bordering the property is one of the organization’s favorite aspects of the site.
- One of the group’s first priorities as neighbors is to improve the safety and health of the area so the public can continue to use it.
- The library recently hired arborist Jud Scott to evaluate the overall health and safety of the acreage. His report identified approximately 65 dead trees that pose a safety risk and need to be removed. The document also listed types and locations of dominate and regenerating tree species and gave valuable insight into possible plantings to help ensure the overall health of the woods for the future.
- Dead tree removal is expected to begin on or around January 24, 2022. Only dead trees will be removed. Signage will be posted, and the library asks neighbors and community members to refrain from walking in the area while the work is being completed.
